Canada´s first synchronized sound film cost 26 men their lives during its production and is as much a documentation of the hardships of life in Newfoundland as it is a gripping story. Following the exploits of a seal hunting party, the filmmakers used actual footage from a real hunt and blended it in with the narrative, creating one of Canada´s most dynamic cinematic gems.
