Embattled but shrewd Australian PM Rachel Anderson (Rachel Griffiths) needed a PR win, and she thought she had it when she elevated Alex Irving (Deborah Mailman), an indigenous nurse with an act of heroism gone viral, to a vacated senate seat. The rookie legislator, however, refused to be a mere prop-and their jousts over policy and public perception would fuel this arch Antipodean political drama.
