Iowa, 1928: Family tragedy had already left Fr. Joseph Steiger (Dan Stevens) wrestling with a crisis of faith when he was tasked to facilitate an exorcism for Emma Schmidt (Abigail Cowen). Skeptical of the process-and of exorcist Fr.
