Oil Capital Underground explores Tulsa’s underground punk, new wave, and thrash scenes from the late 1970s through the mid-1990s. Set against the backdrop of a deeply conservative city once dubbed the “Oil Capital of the World,” the film highlights bands like Los Reactors, NOTA, Pitbulls On Crack, Bunnies of Doom, Baby M, Brother Inferior, and Tex Montana's Green Party as they carved out their own space in defiance of the mainstream. Through DIY recordings and relentless touring, these artists built a vibrant subculture from the ground up. Featuring rare live footage, archival flyers and photographs, and candid interviews with musicians, promoters, and club owners, the documentary captures the energy, challenges, and cultural tensions that defined Tulsa’s alternative music underground.
