Familiar Touch

Octogenarian L.A. widow Ruth (Kathleen Chalfant) found it odd that her younger first date Steven (H. Jon Benjamin) was taking her on a surprise getaway. It soon becomes apparent that Steven is her son, and the "hotel" is the assisted living facility she agreed to in a lucid moment during her cognitive decline. Her coming to terms with her circumstances, and efforts to hang on to self, receive a moving account in writer-director Sarah Friedland's opus. (2024)
