By June 1919, postwar economic hardship on the island of Malta had brought national resentment of British colonial rule to a full boil. The inevitable eruption-which saw angry mobs storm government buildings, four protesters dead and dozens injured at the hands of occupying troops, and over a hundred jailed in the aftermath and cover-up-is richly dramatized in this remarkable effort.
