Our 49th state holds many wonders: Landscapes of incredible beauty, dynamic cities, and a rich cultural history.
This tour of Alaska includes several stops along the famous Inside Passage, including Sitka - noted for its Russian architecture. At Juneau, we pay a visit to the Red Dog Saloon, where hordes of gold-seekers caroused during the great Gold Rush of 1898. A canoe race and hot-air balloon ride are featured in the city of Anchorage. We take a trip to "Alaskaland" in Fairbanks and take a ride on a vintage steam-engine train, followed by an outing on board a stern-wheel steamboat. Try your luck panning for gold in Nome, then view an Inupiat tribal ceremony and blanket toss in Kotzebue.
Enjoy an intimate look at the great variety of wildlife that inhabits the Alaskan frontier, including fox, bear, moose, salmon, sea otter and polar bear. Watch two bull moose lock antlers; see a pack of wolves hunt down a doomed musk ox.
Cruising The Inside Passage:
This picturesque waterway is the home of sea lions, whales, and many species of birds. Sail past lush, forested isles and towering, glacier-clad mountains during this amazing journey.
Klondike-Yukon Gold Rush:
Just over a century ago, the Klondike and Yukon regions were flooded by thousands of adventures with "gold fever." Retrace their steps, and take a nostalgic train ride through Gold Rush territory.
