Suspense, a premier anthology drama featuring stories of mystery and the macabre, was broadcast live from New York over the CBS Television Network beginning in 1949 and continuing on until 1954.
Many top stars of Hollywood and Broadway appeared on Suspense including Bela Lugosi, Charlton Heston, Paul Newman, Boris Karloff, Rod Steiger, Anne Bancroft, Jack Lemmon, John Forsythe, Brian Keith, Peter Lorre, John Carradine, Art Carney, Chester Morris, Leslie Nielsen, Hume Cronyn, Eddie Albert, Eva Gabor, Lloyd Bridges, Jackie Cooper, Jack Palance, Jack Klugman, George Reeves and Lee Marvin.
Before moving to television, it had been a weekly fixture on the CBS Radio Network from 1942 and remained that way for the next 20 years. It aired a total of 945 radio episodes winning a Peabody Award and a special citation from the Mystery Writers of America.
