Every potential World Champion wants to win. But when two great riders, each with a burning passion for success, go head-to-head on the GP track then race fans are in for some real treats! Now from the MotoGP archives we are pleased to present the most intense clashes between MotoGP stars in recent years.
Sparks flew between arch-rivals Kevin Schwantz and Wayne Rainey in the seven years they graced the World Championship stage. Now close friends, their competitiveness spurred them to push their machines ever faster prompting the wheelies, twitches and powerslides that summed up the era of powerful, super-lightweight GP bikes.
Mick Doohan and Alex Criville also cross swords, glancing fairings as they nudge each other aside for the lead. In another epic season-long duel Olivier Jacque and Shinya Nakano scrapped for seven months before the last lap of the World Championship, finishing within hundredths of a second for first and second place.
Finally, Valentino Rossi and Max Biaggi did little to hide their mutual dislike for each other, and the added pressure of the World Championship title led to fierce jostling on the track - at 200mph!
These champion riders give frank opinions of their former rivals, providing a rare and entertaining glimpse into the world of the MotoGP masters.
