Vegas. The word itself conjures up images: casinos open through the neon night, one-armed bandits and long-legged women, midnight confessions, giggling ingenues with romance in their hearts, and desperate men with crime on their minds. High rollers, hookers, hustlers, millionaires, repo men and cops... these are all colors on the easel called Las Vegas.
Kenny Rogers stars as John J. MacShayne, a colorful sleuth who works as a trouble-shooter for a major casino in Las Vegas. MacShayne, still in the process of working off his debt to the casino, is assigned by the hotel to keep an eye on superstar entertainers "Ozzie & Cindy Evans" (Michael McKean and Maria Conchita Alonso) and Senator-elect Franklin Carter and his wife Joan (Daniel Hugh Kelley and Dey Young.)
After an onstage fight between Ozzie and Cindy, Ozzie is fond murdered in his dressing room and Cindy is the prime suspect. At first, MacShayne believes Cindy´s guilt, but while investigating an assassination attempt on Franklin Carter, evidence appears that would prove Cindy´s innocence. Before MacShayne can clear Cindy of the charges, he has to track down the mysterious assassin. Using a houseboat as a hideout for Cindy, Franklin Carter, Joan Carter, and himself, MacShayne lure the assassin in, and in the process discover who the real target of the gunman´s bullet is!
